The Finishing Touch was the first Australian Company to be a licensed Gammill Dealer since 1995 and still the largest in Australia. It is solely owned and operated by Kaye and Bruce Brown.
Kaye has been quilting since 1987. Some 5 years and many 'unfinished' quilts later, Kaye saw a need for a quilting service and following a visit to the United States in 1992 bought her first quilting machine. The Finishing Touch was the first to have a Gammill Quilting Machine operating in Australia.
Both Kaye and Bruce quilt. Bruce specialises in Circles, Baptist Fans, Cross Hatching and Edge to Edge. Bruce also does machine maintenance. Kaye specialises in Heirloom, Freehand Machine Quilting and Teaching Long Arm Machine Quilting techniques.
Kaye and Bruce have travelled to the United States for the past eight Machine Quilters Showcases - quilting show and conference specialising in Long and Short Arm Quilting and the only show available for these types of machines. Many hands-on classes have been attended with Marcia Stevens and Linda Taylor and other specialists in this field in the United States.
Kaye and Bruce have acquired extensive knowledge and techniques from attending these shows and private classes making The Finishing Touch a quality and professional Machine Quilting service.
